Wow, is this blanket ever soft and thick! Cushioning is so important when using a baby blanket as a floor time or tummy time blanket. As a bonus, this blanket photographs well, so you can some great photo ops with your baby!
Bernat Forever Fleece feels like the soft inside of a fleece shirt. Cozy, cozy, cozy!! It’s the perfect yarn for this blanket. They usually come in a 2 pack and I try to keep my patterns under 2 skeins of each color. Always look for it on sale, because the prices vary drastically.

Materials used:
Bernard Forever Fleece super bulky 6 weight yarn
White Noise: 2 skeins
Lavender: 1 skein
Patchouli: 1 skein
Sage: 1 skein
10 mm crochet hook
With Lavender
Chain 71 : this will give you a 36” wide blanket before the border (or any even number plus 1 more chain at the end to make the blanket as wide as you want)
Row 1
Sc in the back bump of the 2nd chain from the hook and sc in each back bump across.
Chain 2, turn
Row 2
Skip the 1st stitch
*Sc in the next stitch.
Chain 1, skip 1 stitch*
Repeat from * to * across.Begin a sc in the last stitch, but drop the year before pulling through the last 2 loops. Cut the yarn, leaving a tail to weave in.
Pick up the White Noise yarn and complete the sc
Chain 2, turn
Row 3
*Skip 1 stitch
Sc in the next chain space
Chain 1. *
Repeat from * to * across, ending with a sc in the last chain space.
Chain 2, turn
Row 4
Skip the first stitch, make a sc in the first chain space. *Chain 1, skip the next sc, sc in the next chain space.*
Repeat from *to*
In the last chain space, begin a sc, but drop the white before pulling through the last 2 loops.
Cut the yarn, leaving a tail for weaving in.
Pick up the patchouli yarn and complete the sc.
Chain 2, turn
Repeat rows 3 and 4, changing colors every 2 rows.
2 rows of lavender
My pattern is:
2 rows of white noise
2 rows of patchouli
2 rows of white noise
2 rows of Sage
2 rows of white noise
Repeat the pattern until the blanket is as long as you like.
End with lavender, 1 row of the linen stitch, followed by chain 1 and sc in each stitch across (make sure you use the chain stitch, not the space)
At the end of the row, chain 1, cut your yarn, pull through to tighten up and finish.
Border:

Any hook size from 6-8mm will work. I used a 6.5mm
Join with white noise in any corner.
4 sc in the same corner stitch.
1 sc in each stitch until you reach the corner, where you will put 4 sc in the same stitch.
On the side edges, use 2 sc for each color.
When you reach the beginning stitch, join with a slip stitch.
Round 2
Now we’ll start the ribbed border.
Chain 5 if you want to use just one skein of the white (if you’re following this pattern.)
You can make a bigger chain if you want a wider border.
Turn and place a single crochet in each chain going down. You should have 4 single crochet.
Put your hook in the stitch to the left of the stitch the chain is coming out of. Slip stitch in that stitch. Slip stitch in the next stitch as well
*Turn. Going back up the stitches, place a single crochet in the back loop of each stitch. 4 total if you made a chain of 5 at that beginning. I usually count the stitches before placing the first one. That way I know the correct beginning stitch. You can put a single crochet in both loops at the top of the border instead of the back loop.
Chain 1, turn
Going back down the border, single crochet in each back loop. Be careful with your stitch count. The last stitch is often hiding. If so, turn the border towards you to find it.
Put your hook in the next stitch and slip stitch.. Slip stitch in the next stitch as well.*
Continue the pattern from * to * around the entire edge of the blanket.
When you reach the initial row and there are no gaps, complete the border by working into the initial row. You can either slip stitch or sew the edges together, matching up the pattern of the ridges.
That’s it! I hope you enjoyed the pattern.
