Linked Treble Crochet: The Fast Stitch

Fast and Easy Blanket with the Linked Treble Crochet Stitch

The linked treble crochet stitch is such a time saver.  It’s a very tall stitch that is reminiscent of Tunisian crochet, but much easier.

The stitches use a combination of 3 stitches, which makes each stitch tall.  Because they are linked, there are no holes or gaps.  Win-win!

I used Premier Puzzle yarn in Acrostic Blue for the pattern above.

I have used this stitch in 4 weight yarn all the way up to 7 weight jumbo yarn.  Talk about a fast project, try making this linked treble crochet blanket in jumbo yarn!  I made it for a friend. She uses it every day because she loves how soft and cushy it is.

Try the above pattern in jumbo yarn.

I also made a linked treble crochet baby blanket with 5 weight yarn.  I love that it’s reversible!

So, if you want a pattern that doesn’t take a lot of time, the linked treble crochet is it. It is quite easy to master.

Chain any number.

I prefer to start with a single crochet row before making the treble crochet stitch rows.

Row 1:

Single crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook and in each chain across.

Chain 3, turn

Row 2:

Put your hook in the 2nd chain from the chain 3, pull the yarn through.

Put your hook in the first chain from the chain 3, pull the yarn through.

Screenshot

Put your hook in the first stitch, pull the yarn through.

Yarn over, pull through 2 loops.

Yarn over, pull through 2 loops.

Yarn over, pull through the last 2 loops.

There will be 2 horizontal bars resembling railroad tracks.  Put your hook under the bar closest to the top (not the top front loop) and pull the yarn through.

Put your hook under the next bar and pull through.

Put your hook in the next stitch and pull through.

This is where it resembles the treble stitch:

Yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

Yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

Yarn over, pull through 2 loops.

Now you just repeat that across the row.  Super Simple!

I find it’s much easier to turn your work so the piece is vertical.

After the last linked treble crochet stitch,

Chain 3, turn

Every row will be a repeat of the linked treble crochet stitch.

The stitch looks different from behind.  The appearance from the back of one row will match the front on the next row.

I hope that makes sense!  See the pics for clarification.
