Half double slip stitch

I love this the half double crochet slip stitch. I use it whenever I want a pretty texture with a twist.

The half double crochet slip stitch creates a very interesting twist. It looks especially great with self striping yarns like Premier Puzzle Yarns.

Chain any number. Make a foundation row in a stitch of your choice. Do not make a chain, just turn. This keeps the half double crochet slip stitch row from slanting.

By not making a chain, you prevent the project from slanting to one side or the other. I learned this when I made my first blanket with the half double crochet slip stitch and single crochet rows.
