Bernat Blanket Extra, super bulky jumbo yarn, 7 weight.
Color A: Crimson Red: about 3/4 of a skein (what I had left from the blanket)
Color C: Smoky Green: about 3/4 of a skein (also what I had left from the blanket)
Bernat Sheepy super bulky 6 weight yarn
Color B: Cottontail: less than 1 skein
15mm crochet hook
With color A: Chain 25 (or any multiple of 2 plus 1 more chain at the end if you’re using a different weight yarn or making a different size pillow cover.)
Row 1:
Sc into the 2nd chain from the hook.
Chain 1, turn
Row 2-4:
Sc in each stitch across.
Chain 1, turn
Rows 4 and 5:
Drop color A, bring color B through to make a chain.
Turn, sc in each stitch. (Cut color A and carry the tails under the first 2 or 3 stitches to hide them). Ch 1 at the end of the row, turn and sc in each stitch across.
Rows 6-9
Drop color B, bring color C through to make a chain. Turn, sc in each stitch
Rows 10-11
Continue the pattern, 2 rows of color B followed by 4 rows of color A, then 2 rows of color B followed by 4 rows of color C.
Continue until you have 4 sections of the red plus one more section of 3 rows, 4 sections of the green and 8 sections of the cottontail.
With the right sides together, overlap the first set of 4 rows of red over the last 3 rows to match up to the cottontail row.
Sc from the bottom corner to the top corner through all thicknesses with the cottontail. I chose to make 2 rows on each side.
Flip the cover inside out to weave in the ends. Flip it back, and place the pillow form inside.
I decided to attach the overlapping ends with a bow of the red yarn. I tried a few different buttons, but didn’t care for the way it looked.
I hope you enjoy making this! I’ll have mine out in the living room for the month of December.
