Learn to Crochet the Waffle Stitch

This is a rich, dense textured stitch, perfect for blankets, sweaters, scarves, pillows…anything that you’d like to have a nice, thick texture.

It really looks like a waffle!

Stitches used:

Ch (chain)

Dc (double crochet)

Fpdc (front post double crochet)

Chainless dc (sc, then go in the left loop of the sc and sc again)

Chain any multiple of 3 plus 2 more chains 

Row 1:

Dc in the back bump of the 4th ch from the hook and in each back bump across.

Turn

Row 2:

Chainless dc  in the first stitch,

*Fpdc in the next stitch, dc in the next 2 stitches*

Repeat from * to * until the final 2 stitches.  Fpdc in the next to last stitch, then dc in the final stitch.  Turn

Row 3:

Chainless dc in the first stitch, 

*dc in the next stitch, fpdc in the next 2 stitches*

Repeat from * to * across, ending with 2 dc 

Repeat rows 2 and 3 and that’s it!  Such a simple pattern that creates a wonderful texture.
