Textured Modern Stripes Crochet Blanket: Free Pattern and Video Tutorials

Crochet a Cozy Textured Blanket that will Last for Years to Come.

While this pattern for a chunky textured blanket with modern stripes will work with any weight yarn and recommended hook, you would have to adjust the number of stitches for the size you want.

Using a chunky 6 weight yarn gave me the thick, cozy texture I was looking for.  It’s so warm and the weight is just right for relaxing on the couch or in bed.

Materials I used:

(Disclaimer: I may receive a small commission at no cost to you if you purchase a product I recommend through a link I provide. Thank you.)

10mm hook (purchase here)

Bernat Softee Chunky Yarn super bulky 6 (purchase here) 431 yards each, this blanket took 2 skeins of each color for a total of 2,586 yards

A=Black

B=Natural

C=Teal

Using 3 colors gives this textured blanket a modern feel.

Because the finished size of this cozy, textured blanket is 52” width x 63” length, it’s great as a throw on a sofa or a bed.

Due to the weight of the yarn and texture of the stitches, the blanket is perfect for snuggling in on a cold night.

Keep your guests comfy as the featured blanket in your guest room. They’ll be so impressed when they find out you made it!

Note:  Always start in the very first stitch.  The turning chain doesn’t count as a stitch.

Let’s Get Started!  This Textured Blanket has an easy 2 row repeat pattern

Color A :

Ch 100 plus 1 more chains (or any multiple of 8 then add 5 more chains)

Row 1:

Dc in back bump of 2nd chain (makes for a nicer base row, but not necessary) and across, ch 1 turn.

Row 2:

*4 sc, 4 fpdc* Repeat from * to * across, ending with 4 sc ch 1 turn

Row 3:

sc in each stitch across, ch 1, turn

Repeat rows 2 and 3 with color A, 54 rows or 20”, finish on a row 2. In the last stitch, begin a sc, but don’t pull the yarn through the loops. Pick up Color B, finish the sc with color B (each color took 2 skeins)ch 1 turn

Color B, repeat rows 2 and 3, 54 rows, ending with the row 3 (fpdc, sc) finish the last sc with color C, sc across, ch 1, turn

Repeat rows 2 and 3, for 54 rows,

Last 2 Rows!

4 dc, 4 fpdc, ch 1, turn. You can finish here or….

Single crochet across, fasten off.

While you may want to make a border, I chose to keep mine simple. The clean edges give it that modern feel. Add tassels or fringe for a fun twist.

Finally, weave in the ends and you’re done!  Congratulations!  Let me know how you liked the pattern.
