Crochet Easy Textured Blanket with Premier Puzzle Yarn

I love this easy 2 row repeat pattern with this Premier Puzzle yarn. It works up so quickly and it’s fun to watch the subtle color changes appear. I have a hard time leaving projects made with this yarn because I love to watch the blanket grow. Having no ends to weave in is such a pleasure!

Each skein of Premier Puzzle Acrostic Blue has shades of blue, green, yellow, beige, gray and purple.  Some parts of the yarn has “speckles”, making the color changes even more interesting!

I found that some skeins have more beige, while others have more yellow. This variation makes the stripes more random and so pretty! Easily mix up the skeins so the colors transition throughout.

Another pattern with the same yarn in the linked treble crochet stitch. If you want a pattern that works up very quickly, this is what you’re looking for! Try it any of the Premier Puzzle yarn colors.

I used:

Premiere Puzzle bulky 5 weight yarn in Acrostic Blue

3skeins

8mm crochet hook

You can use anywhere from an 8mm-10mm.

First, chain any even number to make the blanket as wide as you like.

I made a chain of 80 for a 33” wide blanket before a border.

After the border, it measures 35” x36” long.

End on a half double crochet row.

Row 1

Begin by making a half double crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook.

Next, Half double crochet in each stitch across.

Chain 1, turn.

Row 2

First, half double crochet in the very first stitch.

Slip stitch in the next.

Now, alternate half double crochet and slip stitch across, ending with a half double crochet.

Chain 1, turn

Row 3

Half double crochet in the first stitch.

Half double crochet in each stitch across.

It helps if you slightly turn the stitches toward you so can see the top of each stitch clearly.

Chain 1, turn

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the blanket is as long as you like. Keep your work centered in front of you to help keep the blanket even on both sides.

End on a half double crochet row.

Fasten off if you are not making a border.

If you are making a border, chain 1 and continue.

Border:

Round 1:

3 single crochet in the corner stitch.

We’ll be working down the left side of the blanket first.

Single crochet at the end of each row.

3 single crochet at the corner of the first chain row.

Single crochet in each stitch across the bottom.

3 single crochet in the corner.

Single crochet at the end of each row going up the right side.

3 single crochet in the corner.

Single crochet in each stitch across.

Join at the first single crochet with a slip stitch.

Chain 1

Round 2:

Twisted single crochet in each stitch around. Put your hook in the stitch and pull the yarn through. Pull the 2 loops on your hook up as far as you can. Bring your hook towards you and turn it away from you, twisting towards the back away from the stitch. When your hook is all the way back to the normal position, yarn over and pull through the 2 loops. That’s a twisted single crochet. Now you know why you need to pull the loops up to be able to get your hook through them after twisting around them.

No need to make extra stitches in the corners.

Join the first stitch with a slip stitch and fasten off.

You only have 2 ends to weave in; the beginning of the chain row and the end of the border.

That’s it!
