Chunky Moss/Linen Stitch Blanket with Tassels

Crochet this Quick and Easy Chunky Moss Stitch Blanket: Free Pattern!  You can make it with or without the tassels, but I love the look!  This blanket stays in my living room

Color A (3 skeins, 223 yards in each skein)

Lion Brand respun Thick and Quick in the color Whipped Cream

Color B (9 skeins, 87 yards in each skein)

Lion Brand Thick and quick in the Mandela

In the color Stairwell.

10mm crochet hook

With color A, chain 123 (or any multiple of 2 plus 1 more chain at the end)

My blanket is 54” long and 46” wide.  I worked my pattern vertically, so the initial chain is how long it will be.  That way I don’t have as many ends to weave in.

Row 1:

Work a single crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook and in each chain across.

Chain 2, turn your work.

Row 2:

This starts the moss/linen stitch.

Skip the first stitch.

*Single crochet in the next stitch.

Chain 1.

Skip the next stitch.*

Continue to repeat the pattern from * to * across.

The last stitch will be a single crochet.

We will be changing colors after every 2 rows.  So, begin a single crochet, but drop color A before pulling through the last 2 loops.  Pick up color B and pull through the last 2 loops.

Chain 2, turn your work.  I like to pull the tail through the first chain.

Row 3 and 4:

Put your hook in the first chain space from the previous row. Make a single crochet.

*Chain 1.

Make a single crochet in the next chain space.*

Continue to repeat the pattern from * to * across.

End with a single crochet, but drop color B before pulling through the last 2 loops.  Pick up color A and pull through the last 2 loops.

Chain 2.

Turn your work.

Continue repeating rows 3 and 4, changing colors after every 2 rows.

You can either pull the previous color up the side with each color change, or cut after each color change, leaving a tail for weaving in.

When the blanket is as wide as you like, fasten off.  I like to end with color A.

I did not make a border.  I chose to make very chunky tassels for each corner and I love the way it looks!  I suggest watching my video or other videos to learn how to make the tassels.

I hope you enjoy making this!
