Crochet a Beautiful, Textured Blanket that will Last for Years to Come.
This blanket pattern works with any weight yarn and recommended hook. You just have to adjust the number of stitches for the size you want. I used chunky yarn because I wanted a thick texture. It’s so cozy and warm!
Materials I used:
10mm hook
Bernat softee chunky yarn super bulky 6
431 yards in each skein, this blanket took 2 skeins of each color
A=Black
B=Natural
C=Teal
Using 3 colors gives this textured blanket a modern feel.
The finished size of my blanket is 52” width x 63” length. It’s great as a throw on a sofa or a bed.
The blanket is perfect for snuggling in on a cold night. This is due to the weight of the yarn and texture of the stitches.
Note: Always start in the very first stitch. The turning chain doesn’t count as a stitch.
Let’s Get Started! It’s an easy 2 row repeat pattern
For a video tutorial on the stitch pattern:
Color A :
Ch 100 plus 1 more chain (or any multiple of 8 + 5 8 plus 5 more chains)
Row 1:
Double crochet in back bump of the 2nd chain. This technique makes for a nicer base row, but it is not necessary. Continue across, chain 1, and turn.
Row 2:
*4 single crochet, 4 front post double crochet (around the double crochet post from the previous row)* Repeat from * to * across, ending with 4 single crochet,
Chain, 1 turn
Row 3:
Single crochet in each stitch across.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 with color A for 54 rows or 20”. You should be on a row 2 stitch pattern. In the last stitch, begin a single crochet, but don’t pull the yarn through the loops. Drop color A, add color B and complete the pattern on a row 3, start a single crochet, but complete the single crochet with color B( I used 2 skeins for each color)
chain 1, turn Return with the single crochet(row 3) pattern.
Use Color B. Repeat rows 2 and 3 to make a total of 54 rows. End with the front post double crochet, single crochet row. Finish the last single crochet with color C,
Single crochet across, (2 skeins) with Color C,
Repeat rows 2 and 3, for 54 rows,
Last Row:
4 single crochet. Then, 4 front post double crochet (to closely match the first row). Alternatively, you can single crochet across if you prefer.
I didn’t make a border because after steam blocking, I thought it looked great as it was!
Weave in ends and you’re done! Congratulations! Let me know how you liked the pattern.
