Easy Steps to Make a Striped Crochet Blanket

I love this blanket!  The stripes remind me of a sweater, particularly a tennis sweater.  It has a clean, tailored look.

There is no need for a border on this blanket. The edges are straight and the texture provided by the ridges are interesting enough without a border.

The Red Heart Comfort Yarn is not as soft as the Red Heart Soft yarn. After washing it with fabric softener it really softens up. Use the blanket on the couch, while reading in a chair or at the end of the bed for chilly nights.

Dc in the first 2 stitches.

Extended front post double crochet in the next 2 stitches.

(Yarn over, put your hook through the post of the double crochet 2 rows below, yarn over and pull the yarn through.  Chain 1.  Yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over pull through the last 2 loops.)

You’re just adding a chain at the beginning of the double crochet to add height to the stitch, which makes it look almost identical to the first row.

Repeat from * to * across, ending with 2 dc.

Fasten off and you are finished!!
